The Student Media and Morons Program

Morons, Media and Making a Statement:
Lessons on How to Make or Break Your Organization’s Image

From incredible philanthropies to drugs in the chapter house to the “Don’t taze me, Bro!” guy, this presentation shows how students have been successful…and not so successful…in developing a media image.

Dr. Tait Martin, a former spokesperson for organizations ranging from major nonprofits to government agencies, will guide the audience in a multi-media lesson of how images are developed and sustained in the media.  Specifically, participants will learn:

  • What is news and how to turn your organization’s programs into events reporters want to cover.
  • The ground rules of working with the media – even those on your campus.
  • How to construct media messages that efficiently and effectively get YOUR meaning across.
  • How to handle the media when confronted with a crisis in your organization.
  • Common mistakes that people make when doing on-camera and newspaper interviews.

Used wisely, the media is a useful tool for building your organization’s image.  This program lays that groundwork.
